According to police statistics, a woman is killed every three hours in South Africa – a rate five times higher than the global average. Half of these women are murdered by men with whom they had a close relationship. Official statistics suggest that more than 110 rapes are reported to the police per day.
1 in 4 women are in an abusive relationship.
Enough is enough. We need to take action to end femicide and GBV. We must empower women and girls to speak up, speak out, and find their own solutions to combat violence against women and girls.
How do we do this?
We empower, inspire, educate, lobby, and equip women and girls with the tools to act and respond.
We support various community projects including our COVID-19 lockdown soup kitchens, War against Hunger, Isolated but not alone, anti-bullying programme, vent buddies and various trauma and GBV training initiatives. We are best known for our annual 1000 Women Luncheon that raises much needed funds for our projects, celebrates our survivors and creates a diverse and unique networking opportunity for women.
