The 1000 Women Trust in collaboration with Pick ‘n Pay is calling on all South Africans to take action against gender-based violence (GBV).
The National Gender-Based Violence Command Centre (GBVCC) in South Africa has been receiving triple the amount of calls from women who are trapped at home with their abusive partners during the lockdown.
This August, we will be presenting a series of online webinars in honour of National Women’s month. Join us on the 12th of August as we speak up against GBV.
TV personality, Carol Bouwer will be talking to 1000 Women Trust founder, Tina Thiart, Pick ‘n Pay director, Suzanne Ackerman-Berman, Chief of Social Policy and Child Protection of Unicef South Africa, Mayke Huijbrechts, Journalist, writer and #HearMeToo ambassador, Elize Parker with a guest appearance from 67 shades of hope artist, Anja Du Plessis. These influential women will be taking a look at Gender-Based Violence, sharing stories of strength, and encouraging South Africans to overcome the pandemic.
All proceeds raised from these webinars will be in support of the 1000 Women Trust.
